GEIGS was founded in 2019 as a sister organization to Program in Global Surgery and Social Change (PGSSC) by
visiting students and fellows in the PGSCC program.
Eliana is an MD Candidate at the University of California-San Francisco. She graduated from the Dartmouth College in 2015, where she made potential anti-malaria drugs in lab. She developed an interest in global surgery while working at the Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania for a year. She is interested in promoting equity in surgical fields and in the practice of global health.

Adelina is an MD Candidate at Lund University in Sweden, soon ready to enter cardiothoracic surgery residency! As a Research Associate at the PGSSC, her interests are surgical systems strengthening, and empowering women through the Gender Equity in Global Surgery’s work towards gender parity in surgery! She loves grabbing a hot chai latte with friends and if you challenge her to Harry Potter trivia, she will win.

ADELINA MAZHIQI

Dominique is a Belgian medical graduate working at the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change at Harvard Medical School with a focus on national surgical, obstetric, and anesthesia planning in Pakistan and West Africa, and developing the field of global cardiac surgery. Dominique is co-Founder and Chair of InciSioN – International Student Surgical Network, and a passionate advocate for equity in surgery across all levels.

DOMINIQUE VERVOORT

Jacquelyn is a neurosurgery resident at Duke University Hospital. In addition to global surgery, she is interested in advocacy, journalism, and pediatric neurosurgery. In her spare time she likes to hang out with her husband and pitbull Roxy! She loves public transportation and dark chocolate and thinks dessert should be served first before dinner.
