Welcome to the 
Gender Equity INItiative in Global Surgery 

ABOUT US

We aim to address gender disparities in the surgery, obstetrics, and anesthesia (SAO) workforce worldwide through research, advocacy, and mentorship, to achieve worldwide gender equity in surgery by 2030.

WHAT WE DO

We hope to build a community with a shared vision for gender equity in surgery globally. The organization consists of three pillars: research, mentorship, and advocacy. Our Regional Liaisons and a Diversity, Equity and Justice (DEJ) Task Force work at the core of our organization and guide all the work we do.

BLOGS

In addition to our advocacy, research, and mentorship efforts, we also aim to amplify the voices of our members. Our Blog team features posts and commentaries from around the world on gender equity and related topics.

JOIN US

This initiative was founded with the goals of providing an inclusive, progressive, and dynamic platform for individuals of all genders and backgrounds with interests in surgery. Our membership spans 67 countries and all six continents, and we would love for you to join!
